BRAMPTON, ON | August 6, 2025
Jael Richardson, founder and Executive Director of the Festival of Literary Diversity (FOLD), is thrilled to announce a brand-new, limited-time-only fundraising initiative in partnership with award-winning author R.F. Kuang. Timed to celebrate the highly anticipated release of her upcoming novel, Katabasis, this exclusive FOLD x R.F. Kuang campaign will run until September 17, with all proceeds supporting the FOLD’s mission to uplift and amplify underrepresented authors and storytellers.
The exclusive clothing collection—featuring R.F. Kuang-inspired hats, sweatshirts, t-shirts and totes based on the new novel and her past work—will be available through the FOLD Apparel website, a print-on-demand platform that raises funds for year-round and literary festival programming.
Shop the collection before September 17 at thefoldcanada.org.
“R.F. Kuang is one of the most exciting voices in literature today, and she’s also a powerful advocate for social justice and equity in publishing,” said Jael Richardson, FOLD Executive Director. “This collaboration is a celebration of her brilliant storytelling, and we’re so proud to bring it to our community. Don’t miss your chance to wear your love of books—and your support for equity in literature—on your sleeve.”
Each apparel item is made to order and ships directly to readers around the world. Because it’s a print-on-demand fundraiser, there are no exchanges or refunds: supporters are encouraged to double-check sizing and details before purchase.
The FOLD Presents: An Evening with R.F. Kuang
The FOLD x R.F. Kuang apparel collection aligns with a special September FOLD event happening at The Rose Theatre in Brampton on September 15 at 7:30 p.m. as part of R.F. Kuang’s Katabasis world tour. Tickets for the event are more than 70 per cent sold. Visit thefoldcanada.org/rfkuang for tickets or to learn more.
Rebecca F. Kuang is the award-winning, #1 New York Times and #1 Sunday Times bestselling author of the Poppy War trilogy, Babel: An Arcane History, and Yellowface. She has an MPhil in Chinese Studies from Cambridge and an MSc in Contemporary Chinese Studies from Oxford; she is now pursuing a PhD in East Asian Languages and Literatures at Yale.
In Brampton on September 15 she’ll share insights into her highly anticipated new novel, Katabasis, in conversation with Jael Richardson. The event will also include an audience Q&A, and Kuang’s books will be sold on site by Another Story Bookshop.
