Webinars
FOLD Academy is a webinar series for writers developing their craft. FOLD Academy Kids connects young readers and writers 5-9 years of age with Canadian authors.
FOLD Academy webinars for adults are held on the second Saturday of the month at 12pm EST. The webinars take place over Zoom and can be accessed anywhere there is Internet access. Webinars can also be accessed over the phone using Zoom dial-in codes, which are provided to registrants once they have registered.
What are strategies for holding attention in fiction in general and the short story in particular? When does a short story begin and end, and how does a writer create tension and manage narrative information in between? Using literary examples as well as insights from psychology and neuroscience, this session will help writers tell more compelling short stories.
This live webinar is now complete. You can view the recording of the webinar, with captions, on the FOLD’s YouTube channel until July 31, 2022.
What makes a great book review? In this workshop, learn about what goes into a book review, its importance in the book industry, and how it doesn’t escape the conversations around marginalization for both the reviewer and the author. From writing longform on your blog or short snippets on reading apps to recording your thoughts for YouTube, TikTok and Instagram, book reviews come in all forms, and it gives the everyday reader a way to be a part of the conversation. Join reviewer and FOLD Kids Coordinator Ardo Omer who started out her career in publishing almost 10 years ago as a book blogger!
This session will be closed-captioned. Closed captioning provided by Zoom auto transcription.
