FOLD 2023 PROGRAM SUBMISSION FAQs
What is the FOLD Program?
Every year, the FOLD produces a one-of-a-kind Festival Program. In addition to the festival schedule and author information, the FOLD program includes unique articles and essays from Canadian authors – previously published as well as unpublished. The Program is distributed at the festival and to schools and literary organizations in Brampton and the GTA throughout the year.
What kinds of submissions are accepted in the FOLD Program?
In 2023, the FOLD is looking for submissions of non-fiction and poetry. NON-FICTION submissions must be between 1000-2000 words. POETRY submissions may be any length, but shorter poems are encouraged. The festival accepts work on a wide range of authentic voices addressing lived experiences. Writers of all faiths, backgrounds, orientations, disabilities, age, and genders are encouraged to submit their work.
How do I submit something to the Program?
Writers and magazines can submit unpublished and reprinted articles via filling out the FOLD 2023 Program Jotform.
How many pieces can I submit to the Program?
You may submit a total of 1-3 poems and/or 1 essay in total. Please do not send us more than one essay–additional essays will not be read due to the volume of submissions received.
Can I submit a simultaneous submission to the Program?
Yes. If your piece is accepted elsewhere, please notify us right away.
If my piece is accepted into the Program, will I get paid?
Yes! Previously unpublished pieces will receive a publication honorarium of $100. Reprinted articles will receive an honorarium of $50.
What is the deadline for submissions?
Submissions to the 2023 FOLD Program will be accepted until 11:59pm on February 1, 2023.
