The 2023 FOLD Kids Book Fest program is now open for submissions!
Every year, FOLD Kids Book Fest publishes a unique festival program which includes the festival schedule and writing from young authors ages 6 – 14 across Canada.
In 2023, we are pleased to accept submissions of poetry (any length) and short stories (up to 500 words) to the festival program. You can submit your work to us by filling out the 2023 FOLD Kids Book Fest Program Submission Form.
Submissions will be considered until 11:59pm ET on June 30, 2023.

What is the FOLD Kids Book Fest program?
Every year, FOLD Kids Book Fest produces a one-of-a-kind festival program. In addition to the festival schedule and author information, the festival program includes short stories and poetry from young writers across Canada. It’s distributed online and in print at the festival, and to schools and literary organizations in Brampton and the GTA throughout the year.
Who can submit?
Youth ages 6 – 14 located in Canada.
What kinds of submissions are accepted in the festival program?
In 2023, we are looking for submissions of poetry and short stories. POETRY submissions can be any length, but shorter poems are encouraged. SHORT STORY submissions must be no longer than 500 words.
How do I submit something to the festival program?
Young writers can submit their work by filling out the 2023 FOLD Kids Book Fest Program Submission Form.
How many pieces can I submit to the festival program?
You may submit a total of ONE poem or ONE short story in total. Please do not send us more than one poem or short story–additional submissions will not be read due to the volume of submissions received.
Can I submit a simultaneous submission to the festival program?
Yes. If your piece is accepted elsewhere, please notify us right away.
If my piece is accepted into the festival program, will I get paid?
This year, submissions that are accepted into the festival program will receive a complimentary pass to the 2023 FOLD Kids Book Fest (November 1 – 4, 2023), as well as a prize pack filled with goodies.
What is the deadline for submissions?
Submissions to the 2023 FOLD Kids Book Fest program will be accepted until 11:59pm ET on June 30, 2023.
When will I know if my piece has been selected for publication in the festival program?
We will endeavour to contact all those who submitted to the festival program by late August.
