Festival & Events
The FOLD hosts festivals and year-round events that celebrate underrepresented authors and storytellers.
The Festival of Literary Diversity (FOLD) celebrates Canadian and international authors every year at its flagship festival in May.
The festival includes panels, discussions, workshops, and interactive events that allow guests from across Canada and around the world to participate. The festival delivered in-person events for four festivals and presented virtual events for two years in response to the pandemic, and since 2022, the festival has presented more than thirty events annually in a multi-modal format, beginning with a virtual festival and transitioning into in-person events later in the week.
The 2025 festival will return April 27 – May 4. Events April 27 – 30 will be virtual, while events May 1 – 4 will be offered in-person.
Event DetailsTo better serve young readers and writers and to celebrate the incredible power of children’s literature, in 2019 the FOLD moved all of its kids programming to start a second festival in the fall.
The first FOLD Kids Book Fest – a festival dedicated to children’s literature – kicked off in September 2019 with authors Debbie Ridpath Ohi, Ruth Ohi, Rina Singh, Angelot Ndongmo, Hilary Leung, Kevin Sylvester, Njacko Backo and more.
Event DetailsBuilding on the success of the first three spring festivals, in 2018, the FOLD established a year-round series in partnership with The Rose Theatre, bringing amazing authors to Brampton, Ontario for readings and one-on-one discussions in the intimate Studio II. Past authors include Dionne Brand, Zarqa Nawaz, Karl Subban, and best-selling YA Author Angie Thomas.
Tickets for our Writers at the Rose series are available through the Rose Theatre.
