A creative writing workshop that focuses on how one writes from a problem-based approach. Join acclaimed author Jordan Abel for a session on how to tackle the central issues in your writing—questions that arise may include engagements with ethics, narrative, position, and representation, and we will explore how to find your way through these issues in a manner that makes for engaging, dynamic writing. This workshop is grounded in memoir writing but contains information and strategies that can work across many genres!

Jordan Abel is a queer Nisga’a writer from Vancouver. He is the author of The Place of Scraps, Un/inhabited, Injun, and NISHGA. Abel’s next project, a work of fiction called Empty Spaces forthcoming from McClelland & Stewart in 2023. Abel currently teaches Indigenous Literatures, Research-Creation, and Creative Writing in the Department of English and Film Studies at the University of Alberta.
