Webinar Host

Amanda Leduc is a Canadian writer and disability rights advocate. She is the author of DISFIGURED: ON FAIRY TALES, DISABILITY, AND MAKING SPACE, which was shortlisted for the 2020 Governor General’s Award in Nonfiction. She is also the author of the novels THE CENTAUR’S WIFE and THE MIRACLES OF ORDINARY MEN. Her newest novel, WILD LIFE, will be published by Random House Canada in spring 2025.

Writing on-page intimacy can be intimidating for even the most seasoned of genre fiction writers. As the author of high-heat, open door romances, Ruby Barrett has mastered the art of on-page intimacy that is inclusive of all genders and heat levels. Ruby will help authors identify the heat level they are comfortable with for their stories, provide advice on how to approach intimate scenes without using overly flowery or — what is sometimes deemed as — cheesy language, and how intimate scenes can and should be used to progress plot in genre fiction.
