Our FOLD Team have been thinking about this schedule for months and it’s a privilege to FINALLY be able to share it with you.
As always, we’ve tried to collect a range of stories and voices, and this year, you’ll see a little more genre stories in the mix — as per your request. We think the authors and moderators this year are a collection of some of Canada’s most talented voices — some established and some emerging at all ages and stages of writing, some with fabulous fiction and some with powerful nonfiction stories. And a little bit of poetry and children’s lit to keep life interesting!
If you’ve attended the FOLD before, you’ll notice that our Saturday day events – where the bulk of our panels and workshops take place — have changed location. They will no longer take place in PAMA – our beautiful regional museum. They have been moved to City Hall — where we typically kick off and end out the festival.
You’ll also see that there are fewer panels in general. Moving into a larger space will limit the need to choose between hearing one discussion over another.
As we grow, we also want those attending in wheelchairs and walkers to be able to move in and out of the space with greater ease – and we want to be able to provide ASL interpreters for all panels this year. All of these factors played an important role in our venue change. We never want to put aesthetics and the beauty of a building ahead of the opportunity to enrich the experience for authors and audience members. City Hall will be a great new weekend space and we’re looking forward to being able to do more in our municipal building. Have we mentioned parking is right underneath – and free during the festival??
We’ve also added Pay-It-Forward option through our Patron Passes. If you can’t attend or you would like to show your support or help someone with limited funds – purchase a pass on their behalf.
So here is our FOLD 2018 schedule. We hope you will consider joining us in Brampton May 3-6.
