The Festival of Literary Diversity A Decade of Change
For the past ten years, the FOLD has provided an important space for underrepresented authors and storytellers to discuss craft, culture, and identity. It has also created a space for book lovers of all backgrounds to discover their next great read.
The FOLD is the only literary festival in Canada dedicated to connecting readers, educators, literary agents, and publishers with writers from diverse backgrounds. It has played an instrumental role in helping authors get published and connecting students with incredible authors and poets through engaging events that cultivate urgent conversations.
In 2025, the FOLD is proud to celebrate its 10th anniversary with incredible programming and special projects under the theme A DECADE OF CHANGE. Events will explore the evolution of the FOLD and changes in the publishing industry. What’s changed over the last ten years – and what hasn’t? What role has the FOLD played in the lives of Canadian and international authors?
The conversation begins with a special 10th anniversary podcast, Into the FOLD: A Books and Lit Fest Podcast with founder and Executive Director Jael Richardson and the FOLD’s new Program Coordinator Hudson Lin. Drawing on Jael and Lin’s love of books and publishing expertise, Into the FOLD offers a dive deep into the history and current state of published storytelling in Canada. Episodes are available now on YouTube and on streaming platforms.
Save the Dates: FOLD 2025 runs April 27 – May 4, 2025. The festival opens with an innovative and accessible virtual festival from April 27 to April 30, followed by the FOLD’s signature line-up of in-person events from May 1 to 4 in downtown Brampton, ON.
