Festival of Literary Diversity

The Festival of Literary Diversity is Canada’s first festival centring underrepresented voices in literature. Founded in Brampton, Ontario, the festival launched in 2016 to address a longstanding gap in the Canadian literary landscape. What began as a bold, community-rooted idea has grown into one of the country’s most respected literary events, recognized nationally and internationally for its commitment to equity, accessibility, and craft.

Each May, FOLD celebrates Canadian and international authors through a dynamic program of panels, discussions, workshops, readings, and interactive events. The festival offers hybrid programming designed to remove barriers and welcome audiences from across Canada and around the world.

FOLD continues to stand apart as a festival where craft, community, and radical empathy come together. More than a literary event, it is a movement that connects readers and writers to stories that shift perspectives and shape a more inclusive future for Canadian literature.
