FAQs for Educators

  • How do I register my class for virtual events?

Educators can register for a digital festival pass on October 1, 2026.

Digital passes provide access to live virtual events from November 3-5, 2026 as well as bonus events from previous festivals.

All live events will be made available on-demand to use in classrooms until June 30, 2027.

Passes are $50, but if your school board has purchased a School Board -Wide Pass, you’ll receive a code to register for a digital festival pass at no additional cost.

Educators with a digital pass will have the option to create a STUDENT ACCESS LOGIN (SAL) to provide students with direct access to the Virtual Clubhouse. SALs allow students to log in to the platform on their own devices with a generic account that’s connected to the educator account.

  • How do I know if my school board has purchased or reserved a block of tickets?

School boards register for school board passes at the start of the school year. Prior to registration opening, school boards will receive a code to share with their educators.

In addition, FOLD will post updated lists of confirmed school boards on social media and in our weekly newsletter.

Email us if you have any questions or to request your school board code.

  • Are individual virtual event registrations available?

Tickets to individual virtual events are not available at this time. Digital Passes provide access to all of the virtual festival events at a competitive price, but if finances are a concern, please explore our Patron Pass program.

  • How do I log into the Virtual Clubhouse to view an event?

Use the login button in the top right corner of the menu of our website. You will be prompted to enter your email address and the password you created at registration.

While on-demand events can be located on the schedule at any time, on the day of a live event, you’ll see the “Join” button appear a few minutes before the scheduled start time. E

Once a live event is complete, they’ll available on-demand within a few hours.

  • For a live virtual event, when should teachers log into the platform?

We recommend getting acquainted with the Virtual Clubhouse before the first live day to ensure there are no technical barriers.

On the day of a live event, we encouraged educators to login into the platform 5-10 minutes before the event in the event of any technical issues.

If tech issues arise, contact tech support via the email address at the top right corner of the Virtual Clubhouse. You can also use the chat feature that’s featured on the side of the page and at the Info Desk.

  • If I can’t attend the virtual event live, will I be able to access the videos afterward?

In addition to bonus events that are available as soon as the Virtual Clubhouse opens, all live FOLD Kids Book Fest events will be made available on-demand within a few hours and will remain available until June 30.

  • What security precautions are in place to make sure students are safe online?

While teachers have full access to all of the features on the platform, educators are encouraged to give students their Student Access Login (SAL) for students who would like to access the Virtual Clubhouse directly.

SALs limit access and features for students who may be visiting the platform unsupervised while connecting them to a specific adult account.

For additional safety, our Virtual Safe Space Policy is posted in the clubhouse. In the unfortunate event that inappropriate behaviour does occur, FOLD staff will act swiftly, in consultation with the teacher and school board.

  • Do I need to buy the festival titles in order to participate in the festival?

While reading and purchasing our festival titles is not a requirement for participation, all of our titles are available for purchase through Tinlids; our Official Bookseller for Schools and Libraries.
