Virtual Events November 4-6

FOLD Kids Book Fest virtual events provide students and educators with direct access to a diverse array of incredible authors and storytellers who present storytime readings, writing and art workshops, workshops and evening events geared to educators, and other engaging activities in our interactive virtual clubhouse. Events are organized by the following age categories:
- Primary (Kindergarten – Grade 3)
- Junior (Grades 4-6)
- Intermediate (Grades 6-8)
- Teens (Grades 9-11)
- Educator Workshops and Evening Panels
Age categories are suggested based on reading material and should serve as a general guideline only; events may have crossover appeal.
Educator Resources
In addition to our live and pre-recorded events, the virtual clubhouse includes an exhibit hall and a resource room full of helpful supplemental materials for the classroom. The clubhouse also includes a leaderboard where passholders can earn a range of prizes and a scavenger hunt where students can seek out fun objects.
To support educators, the FOLD produces an annual FOLD Kids Book Fest Educator Guide which includes pre- and post-event questions and suggested activities, along with author profiles for all virtual events. The educator guide will be available when registration opens.
The educator guide and the book list will be available soon. For more information, check out our Educator Pass Information Guide.

Frequently Asked Questions for Educators
-
Where can I find FAQs regarding registration?
All of your questions regarding registration can be found at the Registration and Passes page.
-
How do I log into the Virtual Clubhouse to view a virtual event?
You can log into the Virtual Clubhouse by going to our website or by visiting foldkids2025.vfairs.com (registration opens September 25). We recommend logging into the Virtual Clubhouse as soon as you register. You’ll be prompted to create a password using your email. Please do this for your SAL as well so that you can share the code and the password with any student who needs it.
-
How can I watch events on the Virtual Clubhouse?
The Virtual Clubhouse will open on October 30 to give educators time to get themselves acquainted with the space before the virtual festival begins on November 4.
To view events, head to the Auditorium, click the screen and you’ll be led to the schedule. There you can find the bonus events available on October 30 and can click “Play” to view them.
On the day of a live event taking place between November 4-6, you’ll see the “Join” button appear 3 mins before the event’s start time. Events can be found based on the date and time they appear on the schedule.
Completed events appear at the bottom of the date they were live if there are more live events to come. Replay of these events are made available a few hours after they’ve gone live.
-
What platform is being used to show the virtual events?
The virtual festival takes place on an innovative, customized virtual events platform. All virtual events take place within the platform. While some events are presented on Zoom, users do not have to login to any additional services to view events.
-
What security precautions are in place to make sure students are safe online?
While teachers have full access to all of the features on the platform, educators are encouraged to give students their Student Access Login (or SAL). SALs restrict access on the platform, preventing students from using the chat feature, appearing on video or competing on the leaderboard. Our Virtual Safe Space Policy is posted in the clubhouse. In the unfortunate event that inappropriate behaviour does occur, FOLD staff will act swiftly, in consultation with the teacher and school board.
-
For a live virtual event, when should teachers login to the platform?
We recommend logging in to the platform 5 minutes before the event. The event will go live roughly 3 minutes before start time to give people time to enter Zoom. But you can test out your sound quality by trying out any of the previously recorded events. If tech issues arise, contact tech support via the email address at the top of the screen, through the chat, or through the Info Desk.
-
If I can’t attend the virtual event live, will I be able to access the videos afterward?
