FOLD Kids Book Fest includes live virtual and in-person events presented by authors and illustrators from November 1-5, 2023.
Events for classrooms and educators will take place November 1-3 in our virtual clubhouse, while live, in-person eventswill be held November 3-5 at various Brampton venues, including a one-on-one interview with Angie Thomas at Lester B. Pearson Theatre.
On Sunday, November 5 at 2pm, hear best-selling and internationally-acclaimed author Angie Thomas at Lester B. Pearson Theatre in conversation with actor and teen influencer Ainara Alleyne in Brampton, Ontario for her first Canadian appearance with her middle-grade fantasy novel Nic Blake and the Remarkables. The interview will be followed by a book signing. Books will be available for sale at the event with our Official In-Person Bookseller, Another Story Bookshop.

LBP Theatre is a City of Brampton venue with wheelchair accessible parking, entrances, bathrooms, and seating. Attendees using assistive devices should park in the lower level accessibility parking and take the elevator to the main floor. Elevators are approximately 50 meters from the parking lot. Volunteers will be on hand to provide support.
For Deaf ad hard of hearing audiences, the Angie Thomas event will include live captioning. The festival has booked ASL interpreters; however, ASL interpreters are not guaranteed. Due to high demand, the company prioritizes interpreting events where Deaf attendees are in the audience. Please let us know if you require ASL in order to guarantee the service.
About the Author
Angie Thomas was born and raised in Mississippi, but now calls Atlanta her home. A former teen rapper, she holds a BFA in creative writing from Belhaven University. Her award-winning, acclaimed debut novel, The Hate U Give, is a #1 New York Times bestseller and major motion picture from Fox 2000, starring Amandla Stenberg and directed by George Tillman, Jr. Her first middle grade novel, Nic Blake and the Remarkables: The Manifestor Prophecy, is on sale now.

okshelf, where she highlights books for young people whose authors and main characters from underrepresented communities. Ainara was Hamilton Public Library’s first Junior Librarian in residence and speaks to students and teachers at Universities and pedagogy symposiums, and has been featured in the New York Times, CBC, CTV and more. Her TV show, also called Ainara’s Bookshelf, which she created, co-wrote and produced, airs on TVOkids and YouTube.
