An hour-long conscious language and ethical editing presentation focused on how editors can recognize the colonial perspective and intervene in instances where colonial language is being used to misrepresent information.

Amber Riaz is a professional technical and academic copy editor and the owner of A4 Editing. She edits academic manuscripts, journal articles, and technical reports, working with academic presses, editorial agencies, and individual authors. She is employed as a Technical Editor by ERM, a general consultancy firm, where she works on technical reports, scientific papers, proposals, and government applications for mining permits. She trains editors on matters of conscious language, inclusion, equity, accessibility, and plain language principles.
