2020 Virtual Festival

We’ve moved the festival online…and we’ve made it free for 2020.

April 30 - May 3, 2020

The Festival of Literary Diversity is excited to offer a full weekend of festival programming online for FREE!

The 2020 festival, which was originally conceived as a series of exciting in-person literary events to take place in Brampton Ontario, has been transformed into 19 free virtual events including:

  • A preview event on April 25 on the Power and Politics of Prizes
  • 17 online workshops and panels for April 30 – May 3, listed below.
  • A post-festival event on May 4 where festival organizers reflect on the past Five Years of FOLD

How It Works

You can register for individual events using the Schedule or Registration pages (the Schedule shows all of the events in a single list, while the registration page separates events by date.

All events are free to attend, but space is still limited, so we encourage you to register early.

If you’re using a device like a phone or an iPad, we encourage you to download the Zoom app well in advance of the first event or to join the event at zoom.us/join.

Download Kahoot! App or open the website in your browser at the end of panel discussions for a chance to win free books. Regular trivia events are scheduled throughout the weekend.

Festival Workshops

Festival workshops allow teachers and aspiring, emerging, and established writers to fine-tune their skills under the guidance of phenomenal writing professionals.

The 2020 FOLD workshop series includes our most diverse combination of workshops yet, including a workshop on understanding poetry — a workshop for creating your own audiobook, a publishing workshop, and more.

All workshops are free to attend, but space is limited so we encourage you to view the schedule and register now.

Festival Panels

Festival panel events feature three or more panelists in conversation. A festival host will welcome guests and provide a few announcements. Each panelist will read a short excerpt from their book, followed by a dynamic conversation facilitated by an experienced moderator.

Attendees will have the opportunity to pose questions privately in the webinar Q & A, which is monitored by FOLD staff throughout the event.

Other than those noted, all panels fall on the original festival weekend April 30-May 3.

All panels are free to attend, but space is limited so we encourage you to view the schedule and register now.
